Put this intention somewhere visible where you will see it. Then as it comes closer make sure you act on it.
Take it easy
Start off lightly and within your ability. Going for a 5 minute walk today is better than being inactive yesterday. Cutting out your side of fries is more realistic than quitting eating fried foods altogether. Through these small and early wins you will create a positive evidence procedure and ultimately increase your confidence and belief that you are indeed capable of continuing to increase activity and decrease your intake of fatty foods.
Find a friend

Arrange to go walking or have meals together. As you have similar goals you will hold each other accountable and this will also increase and sustain your motivation. Make sure they are supportive and in for the long haul!
Competence and mastery
Choosing an activity that you were either previously good at (like champion squash player) or one that you would like to master (like kung fu) is a great way to get motivated and stay motivated. As you get better at these activities it is more likely you will stay engaged with them. The natural positive reinforcements associated with mastering an activity will help you to stay motivated in the long run. Even better if your friend is also on the path to mastery of the same activity!
Rewards
